Ana Rita Garcia, PhD Student in Pharmacy, and Rafaela Silvestre, Master student in Biopharmaceutical Sciences, both in Faculty of Pharmacy of Universidade de Lisboa, were distinguish by Ibidi – Cells in focus within the international competition “Ibidi Happy Cell Competition and Giveaway”. The students made a video illustrating the use of the devices supplied by the company, in an assay with cellular microscopy cultures in real time.

This work is part of the project “Unravelling and modulating the interplay between breast cancer cells and blood-brain barrier endothelial cells: a new hope to prevent brain metastasis formation” that aims to develop experiences to prevent brain metastases in patients with breast cancer.

The students who won the prize are part of the Neurovascular Laboratory team at Research Institute for Medicines (iMed.ULisboa), led by Maria Alexandra Brito, Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon (FFUL).
