Maria Alexandra Brito has a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a PhD with Habilitation in Pharmacy. She is vice-president of the Scientific Council, member of the Scientific Committee of the Master’s in Biopharmaceutical Sciences and coordinates the PhD study cycle in Pharmacy. She heads the Neurovascular Laboratory, which addresses the blood-brain barrier in brain pathologies, as a source of biomarkers and as an obstacle to therapy. She authored more than 80 scientific articles and 13 book chapters, guided several students, and obtained national and international funding. She integrates the social bodies of the Portuguese Anatomical Society and the European Federation of Experimental Morphology, and is an evaluator for multiple scientific journals and funding entities.
