On 15 September 2025, at 12:00 p.m., in Amphitheatre A of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Universidade de Lisboa (FFUL), Raquel Petrilli Eloy, from the Federal University of Ceará (Brazil), will present the lecture ‘Innovative Approaches for Topical and Transdermal Drug Delivery’ where current strategies for optimising drug delivery through the skin will be discussed, including the use of nanotechnology and physical reinforcement techniques such as iontophoresis, sonophoresis, and microneedling.
Raquel Petrilli Eloy holds a degree in Pharmacy-Biochemistry from the Ribeirão Preto School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (USP), where she also completed her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences. During her PhD, she interned at Ohio State University (USA) and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at USP (2017–2019) and Queen’s University Belfast in the United Kingdom (2024–2025).
Currently working as a professor at the Federal University of Ceará in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutical technology, nanotechnology, gene therapy, and classic and/or immunotherapeutic antitumour agents, her research emphasises the development of physical and chemical strategies to improve the skin penetration of drugs. She is the author of 45 scientific articles in international journals, 10 book chapters, and holds 2 granted patents and 1 patent pending.
The lecture, open to the entire community, is part of the ongoing scientific collaboration with researcher Sandra Simões.
