Catarina Bernardo, PhD student in Pharmacy at FFUL, was awarded the Research Grant by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). The distinction was awarded by the FIP’s Social and Administrative Pharmacy Section, recognizing the merit of the project “Exploring medication adherence in breast cancer patients shifted from IV to oral forms according to the ABC taxonomy” carried out by the FFUL doctoral student under the guidance of Filipa Alves da Costa and Helena Florindo.

This study has five main goals: “to translate the ABC taxonomy into Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), to explore the issues encountered by breast cancer patients shifted from IV to oral medication, to use the taxonomy to classify patients according to their medication adherence phase, to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Medication Adherence Reporting Scale (MARS-9) in cancer patients and to formulate hypothesis on possible strategies to overcome medication adherence barriers experienced according to ABC taxonomy.”

The awarding of this Prize was announced, on 19th September 2020, during the “FIP Virtual 2020 September”.
