Integrated Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Goals

The FFUL Integrated Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences (MICF) complies with European Directive 2013/55/CE (Pharmacist as a Health Agent), enabling the Master to perform all the activities listed in the Pharmacy Act related to:

  1. Medicinal products for human, veterinary and medical use, including design, development, manufacture, quality control, registration, selection, acquisition, storage, dispensing, information, use, monitoring and surveillance and pharmaceutical care;
  2. Harvesting of biological products, conducting and interpreting clinical analyses;
  3. Toxicological, hydrological and bromatological analysis;
  4. Community-directed education in the field of Health Promotion.

The MICF encourages:

  • Its connection to scientific and professional activities in the area of Medicine and Health;
  • Its connection to the business environment;
  • Its internationalisation.

The MICF values the effort of the students and promotes training directed to the job market.

Curricular Plan

ECTS: 300
Lenght: 10 semesters (5 years)

Bachelor’s Degree in Basic Studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences (LEBCF): Six (6) semesters and approval of 180 ECTS.

Integrated Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences (MICF): Nine (9) semesters of multidisciplinary training + one (1) semester of professional internship with the writing and public discussion of a monograph and approval of 300 ECTS.

The conclusion of the 6 first semesters (180 ECTS) confers the LEBCF degree.

Study cycle accredited by the Higher Education Assessment and Accreditation Agency (A3ES), on 06/10/2023, under code ACEF/2122/0517942, for a period of 6 years, starting on 31/07/2022.

Curricular Internship

The Integrated Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences curricular internship is included in the current study plan and is regulated by Directive 2013/55/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 November 2013 and by Regulation 856/2015 of 18 December 2015.

At the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon level, the internship is governed by the of Integrated Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences Internship Regulations, which defines a set of guiding norms to frame their achievement.

The Integrated Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences internship is an introduction to professional practice that aims to:

  1. Promote the integration of the knowledge acquired in the University in the professional context.
  2. To promote the integration in the professional environment and the experience of pharmaceutical activities in hospital and community environment.
  3. Promote direct contact both with patients and other health professionals.

The organisation of the internship is the responsibility of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, through the Internship Centre and the Internship Advisory Committee.
