The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) has achieved the top national position in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024, excelling in the categories of social impact, environmental impact, and governance.

This accomplishment reflects the collective efforts of its schools, including the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon (FFUL), to promote social and environmental sustainability. At our institution, initiatives in this regard include adopting more sustainable work practices, raising awareness about saving energy and water resources, and upgrading infrastructure through improvement works aimed at enhancing building efficiency—part of the PRR project.

This recognition is also the result of a collective commitment to reducing the ecological footprint of ULisboa and FFUL in the city of Lisbon, reinforcing the university’s role as a driving force for change in tackling climate change and fostering a more equitable society.

The QS Sustainability Rankings evaluate over 1,700 institutions worldwide, analyzing universities’ environmental and social impact. ULisboa has risen in the global rankings, securing the 183rd position out of 1,744 institutions and ranking 82nd in Europe among 556 analyzed institutions.
