Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon (FFUL), Master in Public Health from the National School of Public Health, New University of Lisbon and PhD in Pharmacy (Pharmacoepidemiology) from the University of Lisbon. She has worked as a community pharmacist, pharmaceutical industry Consultant, and as Director of a Regulatory Affairs Department from 1986 to 2003. University lecturer since 2003, Member of the Regional Jurisdictional Council of the Southern Section of the Ordem dos Farmacêuticos from 2013 to 2017, she was Member of the Board of INFARMED, National Authority for Medicines and Health Products, I.P. from June 2017 to June 2019.
