António Almeida is Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology. He graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Lisbon and received his PhD at Aston University, Birmingham, UK. He is the President of the Faculty’s Scientific Board and directs the Master in Pharmaceutical Engineering. His research is focused on micro- and nanoparticles as carriers for drugs and antigens, particularly by mucosal routes. He is a quality expert in medicines evaluation at the national authority (INFARMED) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). He authored/co-authored 5 patents and >130 papers and book chapters. Member of the editorial board of J Biomed Nanotechnol, J Microencapsulation, J Drug Deliv Sci Technol, AAPS PharmSciTech and Pharmaceutics.
