Rita Guedes obtained a degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Chemistry (Physical Chemistry) both from the University of Lisbon. She is an Associated Professor and Researcher (iMed.Ulisboa) at the Faculty of Pharmacy. Rita C. Guedes leads the lab of Computational Medicinal Chemistry, focusing her research on the discovery and optimization of novel molecules with anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral activity, using computer assisted drug design methodologies as virtual screening, molecular docking, pharmacophore generation, de novo design, molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, cheminformatics and Machine Learning. She has mentored many students and obtained national and international funding.
