biographical note
Maria João Gama graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences by the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon (FFUL), in 1981 and in 2001 completed her PhD degree in Pharmacy (Molecular Biology and Genetics) by the FFUL.
Presently, MJ Gama is a Assistant Professor at DBBH, and Full Member Investigator at Research Institute for Medicines and Principal Investigator (PI) in the Cellular Function and Therapeutic Targeting Group. Gama’s most recent publications, arising directly from her own research, have contributed for understanding the neuronal protective role of Glutathione S-transferase pi against dopaminergic cell death using an experimental mouse model of Parkinson’s disease.
