biographical note

Ana Rita Vaz is Assistant Professor with a degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Pharmacy (Molecular and Cellular Biology). Her research aims to understand the role of motor neurons, astrocytes and microglia in neurodegeneration, particularly in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. She is exploring the molecular mechanisms associated with neuroinflammation in cellular models and transgenic mice and aims to develop regenerative therapies that target genes or microRNAs in specific cells, as well as their secretome/exosomes. She supervises PhD, Master Students and Research Fellows. She authored >30 papers in the field of neurosciences, neuropharmacology and cellular biology.
