INTERNATIONAL MARKET ACCESS

Course Objectives

This course aims to understand the market access plan and process from before the clinical trials phase to launch, including strategies and tactics.

In this sense, it aims to:

  • enable professionals working, or with an interest, in the area of health technology assessment, to deepen their knowledge in the area of market access in Portugal and globally;
  • explain, in a practical way, the process of evaluation and decision on price and co-payment of medicines, considering the diverse reality of decision-makers and payers nationally and internationally, through the sharing of experience by international experts;
  • provide the participation of trainees in the resolution of cases based on the reality of the various stakeholders and national, European and international decision-makers.

This course will take place entirely in a distance learning format (e-learning) in english language.

Target audience

This course is especially designed for healthcare professionals with an interest in deepening their knowledge in the areas of International Market Access and Health Technology Assessment.

Attendance at the course requires high fluency in English language.

Course Struture

This course will run from September 14, 2024 to January 25, 2025, and will be entirely in distance learning (e-learning) format, and will be taught in english language.

The course has a total of 72 hours of training, equivalent to a total of 10 ECTS.

The training hours are distributed as follows:

  • Theoretical training hours: 66 h
  • Practical Hours: 2 hours (case studies and practical exercises)
  • Tutorial Hours: 4 hours

The course will be held on Saturdays between 09:00 am and 01:00 pm, consisting of one session per week.

The assessment will be based on the elaboration of a group case study.

Access Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Health, Economics or Marketing or Law.

Selection and seriation criteria:

Previous professional experience in the pharmaceutical area at national or international level.

  • Minimum number of trainees for operation: 18
  • Maximum number of trainees for operation: 30

Required Documents for Application (new students): Document proving possession of a bachelor’s degree and Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Required Documents for Application(for students that participated  in the course International Pharmaceutical Market Acess): Document proving possession of a bachelor’s degree, Curriculum Vitae (CV) and/or the Certificate of the International Pharmaceutical Market Access course.

Documents proving candidates’ qualifications must be issued by the competent authority in the country where the qualifications were obtained and, when issued by foreign institutions, they must be legalised by a Portuguese consular agent or by the Hague Apostille, these legalisations being carried out in the country of origin of the documents. Whenever they are not issued in Portuguese, English or Spanish, they must be translated into one of these languages.

Note: the course has as an essential requirement of English language proficiency and of online access, with camera and sound, in a reserved environment.

  • 2950 € (new students)
  • 700€ (for students that participated  in the course International Pharmaceutical Market Acess)

By application of paragraph e) of point 2 of Article 42 of the University of Lisbon’s Statutes, and taking into account the terms for the attribution of PRR funding under the “Impulso Adultos” program, the Organic Unit responsible for the coordination of each course may award academic performance prizes.
