Advanced Analytical Techniques: Multiple Applications for Mass Spectrometry

Overview

Mass spectrometry (MS) is an advanced analytical technique that has achieved a prominent position and progressed rapidly over the last two decades due to advances in ionization methods and mass analyzers. This progress has enabled the development of equipment with better performance, with more targeted application in different areas and consequently health-oriented applications.

This course aims to provide an overview of the fundamentals and equipment of mass spectrometry (MS), with an emphasis on the most recent applications of this methodology.

This course is aimed primarily at FFUL doctoral students.

However, considering the growing interest in mass spectrometry methodology, the course is open to postgraduate students from FFUL and other academic institutions, as well as industry professionals, namely in areas related to human, animal or environmental health.

Coordination:

Noélia Maria da Silva Dias Duarte, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon.

Maria do Rosário Beja de Figueiredo Gonzaga Bronze, Full Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon.

Partnerships:

This course will have the collaboration of several experts from other institutions with different experiences and know-how, most of them members of the Portuguese Mass Spectrometry Network (RNEM).
