The diploma registration which is regulated by the Decree-Law n.º 341/2007, 12th October (PT) establishes a regime of recognition of foreign academic degrees identical in level, goals and nature to the degrees of Bachelor, Master and PhD awarded by Portuguese higher education institutions, embodying its holders with the same inherent rights.
The list of countries/degrees which can benefit from this scheme are included in the General Resolutions issued by the Commission for the Recognition of Foreign Degrees.
This process aims at simplifying the recognition of foreign degrees, promoting the circulation of graduates in education as well as in the labor market.
The diploma registration may be presented at the Academic Department of the Rectorate of ULisboa (reche@reitoria.ulisboa.pt), as well as in the Portuguese Directorate General for Higher Education (DGES) or at other Portuguese higher education institutions.
