Graça Soveral is graduated and PhD in Pharmacy (Biochemistry), from the University of Lisbon, and is Full Professor. She is Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and group leader at the Research Institute for Medicines iMed.ULisboa. Her research is focused on the role of membrane channels and transporters in the pathophysiology of diseases such as inflammation, obesity and cancer, identification of new biomarkers and targets for drug action, and discovery of compounds that may present drug development opportunities for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. She has mentored numerous PhD and master students, published > 100 papers in international journals and organized > 20 international scientific meetings. She is currently the President of Portuguese Biochemical Society (SPB), the Treasurer of the Portuguese Biophysical Society (SPBf), and council member of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS).
