Learning outcomes

Therefore the main objective of this curricular unit is the training of young scientists with the skills and knowledge required to address the challenges involved in the development of novel chemistry for bioconjugation, its use to understand key biological processes and for the construction of therapeutic conjugates.
The training skills required to meet the aforementioned objectives, will be ministered by a collaborative teaching staff and the students are expected gain competences on the functionalization of proteins based on chemical and genetic methods; on the characterization of bioconjugates using the most advance analytical tools and on the construction and evaluation of therapeutically useful conjugates.

Syllabus

  1. Introduction to Chemical Biology
  2. Chemical Modification of Proteins with organic molecules
  3. Protein functionalization in vivo
  4. Synthesis of therapeutically useful conjugates
  5. Chemical Modification of oligonucleotides with organic molecules
  6. Oligonucleotide analogues and biological In this module recent developments in the synthesis of oligonucleotides analogues will be presented and their biological relevance discussed.
