Pharma GMAC – Pharma Global Market Access Course

Overview

The Pharma GMAC – Pharma Global Market Access Course is an advanced postgraduate programme of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, dedicated to global pharmaceutical market access in a value‑based, evidence‑driven and health system sustainability decision‑making context.

The programme provides an integrated view of the pharmaceutical product life cycle, from clinical development to assessment, financing and patient availability, combining scientific, economic and strategic perspectives.

With a strong international focus, Pharma GMAP prepares professionals to operate in complex healthcare decision‑making environments, where evidence generation, value demonstration and access strategies are critical to therapeutic innovation and clinical impact.

 

MAIN OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of the programme are to:

  • Understand the functioning of pharmaceutical market access systems at a global level
  • Develop competencies in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Health Economics
  • Design and implement pricing, reimbursement and market access strategies
  • Integrate perspectives from the pharmaceutical industry, regulators, assessors and payers
  • Apply acquired knowledge to real‑world cases and complex strategic decisions

Pharma GMAC is structured into progressive modules delivered over more than 20 weeks, comprehensively covering the core areas of global Market Access.

PROGRAMME: Pharma GMAC – Pharma Global Market Access Course

 

Teaching Methodologies

The course is delivered in a synchronous e‑learning format, with weekly online sessions via Microsoft Teams.

Teaching approach:

  • Theoretical and practical lectures with international and national experts
  • Structured discussion of real‑world Market Access cases
  • Interactive workshops and decision‑making simulations
  • Q&A sessions in each module
  • Collaborative group work and final project presentations
  • Conceptual framework grounded in scientific evidence and international guidelines

Session organisation:

  • 2‑hour sessions (including structured breaks)
  • 5‑minute break every 55 minutes
  • Fully online delivery, scheduled after working hours (20:00 GMT)

Assessment:

  • Mandatory minimum attendance of two‑thirds of sessions
  • Active participation in discussions and practical activities
  • Continuous qualitative assessment of demonstrated strategic competencies
  • Group presentation of final practical cases

Application Period: from May 11, 2026 to September 07, 2026

Early Bird Applications: applications submitted (with the application fee paid in full) by 19 June 2026 are eligible for a 15% discount on the course tuition fee (this discount cannot be combined with other discounts or reductions).

Members of the Portuguese Association of Young Pharmacists (APJF) who, at the time of application, submit a certified statement confirming their membership status, are entitled to a 25% discount on the course tuition fee (not cumulative with other discounts or reductions).

Admission requirements

Applicants may include:

  • Professionals from the pharmaceutical industry
  • Healthcare managers and decision‑makers
  • Market Access, HEOR and HTA consultants
  • Recent graduates in Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Economics, Management or related fields

 

Selection criteria:

  • Relevant academic background
  • Professional experience in the healthcare sector (preferred)
  • Motivation letter
  • Curriculum evaluation
  • Proficiency in English

Applicants may be required to attend a selection interview conducted in English, with an approximate duration of 30 minutes, led by one of the course coordinators, to assess motivation, academic and professional profile, and English language proficiency.

Required Documents for Application: Document proving possession of a bachelor’s degree, Curriculum Vitae (CV) and Motivation Letter.

Application Fees and Tuition:

  • Application fee: 10€ (Note: the application fee will not be refunded if the candidate is excluded or not selected).
  • Course Tuition: 3.950,00€
  • School Insurance Fee: 2,10€

Applications for the course are made exclusively through the FenixEdu Platform of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon (FFUL).

Access to the FenixEdu Platform:

  • If you have never been a student at FFUL you must pre-register on the FenixEdu Platform.
  • If you are a former student of FFULisboa and have already had an account campus@ulisboa or @edu.ulisboa.pt you should access the FenixEdu Platform and authenticate yourself with your account data. If you have lost access to your account, you can recover your password in the ULisboa users area.
  • If you are a former student of FFULisboa and have never had an account campus@ulisboa or @edu.ulisboa.pt you must send an email to cncg@ff.ulisboa.pt indicating your full name and ID document number.

Access the FenixEdu Platform.

  • On the tab “Candidate”, choose the type of application: “Non Degree Courses”, select the desired course.
  • Fill out the online form and attach all the required documents in digital format. In the application process you can indicate whether you want the invoice to be issued in the name of another entity/company/institution.
  • Select the “Submit” option.

Applications will only be validated by the Academic Services once the applicant has paid the Application Fee.
